I do! Again! Why hold a vow renewal ceremony (and what to say!)
What is a Vow Renewal ceremony and why would you have one?
5 years? 10 Years? 25?How wonderful to celebrate your years together by re-affirming the love you have for each other. However, like a wedding, every vow renewal ceremony is different, original and of course, will be all about you!
The current wedding trend is that couples write and read their own vows to each other rather than using the dry legalese of a registry office wedding, but you might have been married in a Church, or at a time when using your own vows wasn't a 'thing'. So what better opportunity for you to write new vows for your renewal ceremony? In this case you might want to not only state your promises, but also celebrate the life you have spent together so far. Here are a few examples of the kind of words you might want to say. I can help you with this of course so that the words you speak and the promises you make are perfect for you as a couple .
"Until today, the day I married you was the best day of my life"
You are my best friend, my rock, my confidante my lover, and sometimes a challenge (!) but most of all you are the love of my life and have made me happier than I thought possible"
I see these vows not just as promises, but as privileges - i get to laugh with you, cry with you, care for you and share with you, and most importantly to love you every single day
Your ceremony can be structured in any way you choose this is the joy of this fabulous type of ceremony - you could have a 'wedding' style structure in a stunning venue with the giving of eternity rings, and readings OR you could throw a party in your garden and have a more informal and relaxed ceremony with the wine flowing in the sunshine. In fact you could hold your vow renewal in any setting whatsoever - you might choose a place that has a special meaning for you or a beautiful location.
Another option is to include your loved ones involved in your ceremony. You might have children, family or friends (maybe even those who were your chief bridesmaids or groomsmen who could recreate the role they played at your wedding. I have got many ideas and about how to include family and friends should you wish it - this might be in the form of a wedding ritual , and can be very beautiful and meaningful.
My husband and I had a vow renewal ceremony to celebrate our 25th anniversary, It was romantic, beautiful and a wonderful chance to have all our loved ones with us for the party to end all parties (until the nex big anniversary that i
