Christmas Proposal tips
How to propose at Christmas.
It's the time of year for jingling bells and endless versions of 'All I want for Christmas is you' everywhere you go. It also the time that we are able to find joy in mulled cider, sparkling wine, fairy lights and gathering with friends and family (although I pretty much love all of this at any time of the year!). It also turns out that Christmas is the most popular time of year for proposals. Perhaps this is because it is also a great time for sharing your exciting news with friends and family - and can only add to the upbeat atmosphere.
I imagine that there a number of nervous people out there as well who are planning to propose to their loved one this Christmas, but are still thinking about the best way to pop the question - should it be low key and personal or a high drama flashmob? Whatever you feel is right for your couple vibe is the way to go - so you do need to make sure you pitch it just right with the timing as well as the method.
Today I am just giving a few ideas that might inspire you with you proposals. Oh, and do let me know how it goes!
Put the ring in their stocking - pop it at the bottom of the stocking next to the Terry's Chocolate Orange (everyone has one of these right?) so that it is the last gift to be opened.
Personalise a Christmas Cracker - you can buy kits to make your own, just make sure that the crackers are distribute to the correct people or you might find yourself proposing to your cousin twice removed.
Back in the day, a lucky silver sixpence would be hidden in the Christmas Pudding and everyone eagerly delved into their puds to see if they were the lucky recipient. Hiding the ring in the pudding (maybe wrapped in something to protect it from the ingredients) would be a nod to Christmas times of old.
Plan an advent calendar from the start of December - you can make your own personalised one - by buying one with pockets or boxes that you fill with small gifts or chocolates. The final pocket will be opened on December 24th and will contain the ring. In case your partner is someone who would normally open all the windows at once,(my kids used to do this and eat all the chocolate in one go) you might need to put your gifts in one at a time!
Hang a new bauble on the tree - a bauble that contains a ring and the question "will you marry me"
Go for a Christmas Day walk to somewhere beautiful or special to you both, and opt for a romantic quiet and traditional proposal on one knee.
Give the engagement ring as a gift - no need to make a big deal of it. You could wrap in a several larger boxes to stop your partner guessing and to have a surprise reveal at the end.
Just the two of you at Christmas? How about breakfast in bed? With the ring as the main event of course. Probably better have food lined up as well....
Wear a 'Marry Me' t-shirt, easily customisable from Etsy. Choose your time and then reveal your secret!
Under the mistletoe - very romantic, so nip down to your local greengrocer as they usually have it in stock at Christmas
